By accessing or using the Citizens Self-Governing Office ("CSO") platform — including our website, IVR phone system at (888) 604-8409, and SMS notifications — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
CSO is operated as a U.S. nonprofit civic organization (EIN 41-2366075) dedicated to facilitating direct constituent communication with elected representatives at the congressional district level.
Program name: Citizens Self-Governing Office SMS Notifications
Description: Transactional and public-service SMS sent to subscribers who provide verbal consent via our IVR at (888) 604-8409. Messages include submission confirmations, voicemail transcripts, and district legislative / town hall notices.
Opt-in: Verbal IVR opt-in (press 1) — see /sms-consent for the full workflow and verbatim consent script.
Frequency: Varies. Most subscribers receive fewer than 5 messages per month.
Carrier disclosure: Message and data rates may apply.
Opt-out: Reply STOP to any message. Opt-out is immediate and permanent until the subscriber re-consents through the IVR.

No marketing: CSO does not send marketing, advertising, promotional, or third-party content via SMS. Mobile numbers are never sold or shared with third parties for marketing.

Membership in Citizens Self-Governing Office is free for all verified citizens. All members have equal civic standing, including full participation rights.
Voluntary donations support platform operations and are processed securely through Stripe. Donations do not affect membership rights and are not political contributions.

Prohibited: Multi-accounting, vote manipulation, harassment, credential sharing, accessing others' private information, or automated scraping.
Citizens Self-Governing Office is strictly nonpartisan. We do not endorse candidates, parties, or policy positions. We do not coordinate with campaigns. We do not use platform data for political targeting or advertising.
The platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, that representatives will respond to district activity, or specific outcomes from civic participation.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Citizens Self-Governing Office and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform.
You may close your account at any time by emailing info@mail.selfgoverningoffice.com. Upon closure, your personal data is deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We may suspend accounts that violate these Terms or engage in fraud or abuse.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
We may update these Terms periodically. Material changes will be announced on the platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
