Citizens initiate contact by calling our toll-free line at (888) 604-8409. Before any SMS is sent, the IVR plays the following verbal opt-in script:
"Thank you for contacting the Citizens Self-Governing Office. To receive a one-time text confirmation of your submission and occasional updates from your representative, press 1 to consent. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help. To decline texts, press 2 or hang up."
Only callers who press 1 are added to the SMS list. Callers who press 2, hang up, or remain silent are not opted in. Each consent event is logged with timestamp, caller ID, and the IVR prompt version, and is retained for the life of the subscription plus seven years for compliance review.
Message frequency varies. Most subscribers receive fewer than 5 messages per month. Message and data rates may apply.
We do not send marketing, promotional, advertising, or third-party content. We do not send unsolicited messages.

Reply STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT to any message at any time. You will receive one final confirmation that your opt-out has been processed:
CSO: You have been unsubscribed from Citizens Self-Governing Office messages. No further messages will be sent. Reply HELP for help.
No further messages will be sent unless you opt in again through the IVR.
